They’re Everywhere ... For Good Reason

Made from high quality archival materials, Lumiere Classic D-Ring Archival Binders are a straightforward and simple means of organizing your photographs or collections. Binders using D-ring construction are preferred by archival  professionals due to their larger capacity—20% more than O-rings—and because they actually help to hold some of the weight of the cover, eliminating any chance of damage to your images or documents.

What's so different about the Lumiere Classic Binder?

"I can buy a binder at a stationary store for much less."

Yes you can, but you would be purchasing a binder that is not made from archival materials, probably has no locking mechanism, most likely is an "O" ring binder and most importantly, the rings are attached to the spine of the binder, not the back.

These are no small points since for a binder to truly be archival it must be made from archival materials AND be constructed using a design that allows for the safe handling and storage of its contents. Using the "D" ring, the compression of the binders contents is reduced.  By putting the rings on the back rather than on the spine, the binder will open completely and lay flat on a surface allowing for the ease of accessibility and complete control of the pages as they are turned.

These binders’ other excellent qualities include library-quality buckram cloth cover—durable and good looking—and covers lined with archival card stock. You’ll also find a pull tab for easier removal from the slipcase or shelf as well as a mechanism that prevents the rings from opening accidentally.
