In the Heart of the Image Capital
Lumiere Photo is located in Rochester, NY, the heart of photography’s heritage. Over thirty years ago, an RIT grad named Bill Edwards founded a company dedicated to promoting fine arts photography—selling photo books from the back of his Volkswagon Squareback.
Over 30 Years of Archival Experience
Bill went on to found Light Impressions Corporation, which became an industry leader in archival supplies and standards. Edwards sold his interest in Light Impressions and is no longer connected with the company. However, he has continued serving regional photographic and educational needs through his continued stewardship of Spectrum Gallery that he founded in 1970.
In 1998, Bill founded Lumiere Photo—selling photography and archival supplies. As digital technology emerged, Bill continued to honor past photographic processes, but welcomed the added creative tools afforded image makers by creating a Digital Lab at Lumiere Photo. Throughout the evolution of Bill’s photographic career, there remains a constant—integrity of quality products and service. Lumiere Photo has become one of the most progressive archival and digital imaging service companies.
It’s no accident that Lumiere Photo is based in Rochester, New York, the imaging capital of the world. Many of the product innovations that have emerged over the years were the result of close relationships with the Image Permanence Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology, Kodak research departments, International Center of Photography at the George Eastman House and its archivists, restoration personnel and curatorial staff along with a very vibrant photographic community made up of teachers, students and professionals. We, at Lumiere, are pleased to share the results of this community's creative collaboration by offering our customers the best of the best.
